I fell in love with Detroit during his early childhood. He was mesmerized by Detroit's history of the 1900s and served as a proud veteran of the US Air Force and as an employee of the Ford Motor Company. With his wife, he lives in Warren and is a local historian. In his pursuit of a legacy, he restored "Detroit and Vicinity", a souvenir booklet that was published in 1909. To this end, this booklet does exactly that, putting Old Detroit just a snapshot away from your fingertips.
I'm very honored to announce the release of the digitally restored 1909 Detroit and Vicinity souvenir book! I have digitally restored all of the images in the booklet and it has been an incredible process to get the booklet to showcase this incredible offering of history. This can be of great historical value for learning about the people who have had interesting lives in this great city.
She was once called the Paris of the Midwest with luscious greenery and vast boulevards. She was the envy of the country, if not the world. Over time, she fell upon ruin, but now she is reawakening to a new beauty and youth. We still can look back at her earlier grace and charm in Detroit: City of Neighborhoods.

Documentation of the photographs was an important part of this project. I realized that documentation for each photograph would determine how valuable the photographs were in the future. So I didn't change too much to the images.
